My daughter is 11 and finds history very boring .but i know that she secretly finds it interesting because she remembers what we read she just won't admit it .I asked her [already knowing her answer] "If we did more projects would that help you?" She immediatly perked up I've known this was true because when we do projects she really enjoys them and retains so much .My problem is that im not a hands on learner and find it easier for me to just read and that be enough. My other daughter is just like me she enjoys sitting down to READ her history book [she is 8].Now I know it's important to go with their learning styles ,and now 6 years late i'm finally giving in [no we've done projects in the past but I'm finding it harder to come up with things because coloring pages and cute project won't fly anymore.

We've started learning about the middle ages, a history book from Christian liberty press .

she so enjoys reading comic books that i thought she would enjoy making a comic book about our new chapter "THE VIKINGS"Well...

she leaped for joy and came up with a format .My concern is how do I top that . Any ideas would be very appreciated.just general project ideas.I guess i'm not as creative as I thought

Thank you all.

Don't try to top it. Let her come up with the next project. or let her do the comic book again if that worked and she wants to.

You can also check out this list for right brained learners (which likely fits your 11 year old):

http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/homeschoolingcreatively

If you want to learn more about Right Brained Learners, see if you see your dd anywhere in this link:

May I encourage you that your extra effort will make a huge difference?! She can't help learning best this way any more than you can help learning best by reading. Recognizing and valuing the way she learns will make all the difference in the world to her, I promise!

You are very welcome!!

Right brained learners are really COOL and very much appreciated as adults but getting them through school can be a challenge at times. I was never so glad for homeschooling as when my youngest turned five. The thought of trying to find a fit for him in traditional school makes my hair grey. So you can be thankful that although it is extra work, and at times quite bemusing, homeschool is the very best place for your special dd!

That's is so true. I've always felt that if she were in a P.S. they'd have her in a special ed. class so fast it's scarey .I've worked at P.S. up until i had our first and I've seen it happen. so thank the Lord for the freeedom to Homeschool.

I have one of those wonderful little creatures - otherwise known as a right brain learner!! She is so creative - always - doing crafts, cutting, pasting, and sewing.  But pull out the history - shew...  Anyway - an option that we just discovered for her this year is an online curriculum- the high visual stimulation keeps her interested for long periods of time.  I just wrote an article for my blog about this very subject and her struggles.

Also there is some information here that may help you regarding right brain learners.
