Hi everybody. I'm a single mom with a son in first grade. My family is totally not on board with homeschooling. It's a very lonely time for me right now and I would sure love to make some new friends. I'm hoping I've come to the right place. Y'all have been realy helpful so far, so thanks for that. I've only been here a few days but like I said I'd love for y'all to say hi.

Welcome!

I think the verse in your signature applies to the situation you mentioned - you know you are doing the right thing, so walk in the faith and ignore the nay-sayers (family).

Hi,

While most of my family isn't completely against me homeschooling my daughter most of them don't understand it and they all have what they think are well meaning warnings but are just negative thoughts to say so I somewhat understand. It makes it a tougher road to take when you don't have complete support.

I am a single mom as well and new to the boards and new to homeschooling but I definitely wanted to say hi. Good luck with everything and hopefully we will get to know one another while trolling these helpful boards. :)

Hello Leigh
Greetings from Scotland! I've only just found this forum as I myself, as single mother too, feel quite isolated and unsupported at times and decided to finally see what was out there on the web. Please know that you have my support and deep respect! I know what you're going through! My daughter is 8 so about the age of your son and although I am not a stictly practising Christian we do try to lead a morally ethical and spiritual life which has of course resonances with Christianity - I loosely follow Waldorf Steiner's educational ideas. Maybe we can exchange email support when we get time?!
Love Cathy

Or you can both do it here.... after all, that is what this forum is for!

Hey Leigh!

I'm new to this site... but I also have a six year old that i'm new to homeschooling. I was a single mom until three months when I remarried... and while I'm not a single mom anymore per se... it still feels like I am when it comes to the kids. I still have this attitude of "they are MY kids". I need to find that balance... but I suppose it will work out. I hope you find great friends here. Me too!
